Yesterday, Hogan for Maryland launched the second TV ad of the general election, “Right For Maryland.” In The ad, Governor Hogan emphasizes his commitment to being an independent, common-sense voice in the Senate focused on what’s best for Maryland, not one political party.
Punchbowl News:“Hogan’s campaign rolled out its second TV ad of the general election on Tuesday. The goal: Convince Maryland voters that the well-regarded two-term governor will be an independent-minded senator. ‘If they want my vote, they will have to do what is right for Maryland — not one political party,’ Hogan says direct-to-camera in the ad.”
Fox News: “In a new TV ad aired Tuesday, the former Maryland governor stressed his bipartisan bona fides. … Despite his party affiliation, Hogan has shown promise in the blue state, especially with his reputation as an anti-Trump moderate.”
Washington Examiner: “Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is warning the GOP it shouldn’t take his vote for granted as he campaigns to flip a Senate seat in the deep blue state. … Hogan’s campaign told the Washington Examiner in a statement on Tuesday, ‘The message in this ad shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. For eight years, Gov. Hogan put Maryland first and prioritized the issues that are important to Maryland over party politics or partisan talking points. He will be the same independent leader in the United States Senate.’”
The Hill: “In the ad — Hogan’s second in the general election cycle so far — the moderate Republican reaffirmed his commitment to being an independent voter. … The advertisement also comes as Hogan seeks to quash concerns that, if elected to represent the blue state in the U.S. Senate, he would fall in line with the mainstream Republican platform and boost the party’s national agenda.”
New York Post:“Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has vowed in a new ad that neither Republicans nor Democrats will be able to count on his vote if he becomes the first member of the GOP elected to the Senate from the Old Line State in more than four decades. … The ad is Hogan’s second of the general election cycle following his win in the May 14 Republican primary.”
Daily Mail: “Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan – who was widely popular during his two terms in the now solidly blue state – claimed in a TV ad that ‘In the Senate, Republicans can’t count on my vote, but then again, neither can Democrats.’ … The blatant declaration that he would be thinking for himself and his constituents over the wishes of the Senate GOP could set up a showdown with the Republican leadership team if he wins.”
