Prince George’s County Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Hogan For Maryland

Today, the Fraternal Order of Prince George’s County Police, Lodge 89, announced its endorsement of Governor Larry Hogan in his campaign for the United States Senate at its headquarters in Upper Marlboro. This endorsement from one of the largest law enforcement organizations in Maryland further bolsters Governor Hogan’s support from the brave men and women who protect our communities.

“This was an easy decision for us,” FOP Lodge 89 President Angelo Consoli said. “You’ve been here for us the whole time as governor. You stepped up when nobody else would to help us out. Also the fact that when people wanted to defund us, you wanted to re-fund us, and we do appreciate that–and this coming from the officers that needed people to step up for them that we haven’t gotten in this county.”

“As a native Prince Georgian and as a leader deeply committed to backing the blue, this endorsement means so much to me,” Governor Hogan said. “I know that many of our police departments feel beleaguered and underappreciated right now, but Maryland law enforcement can continue to count on my unwavering support when I’m in the Senate. I am grateful to have the support of our state’s law enforcement officers in this campaign.”

Earlier this month, Governor Hogan received the unanimous endorsement of the Maryland Fraternal Order of Police, the largest law enforcement organization in the state representing over 20,000 active and retired officers.

Governor Hogan has proposed a 10–point crime plan to address violent crime–including steps to deal with violent offenders, back law enforcement, and support victims. In the Senate, he will build on his landmark Re-Fund The Police Initiative, which committed over half a billion dollars to help recruit and retain more quality officers, to increase diversity and expand community policing efforts, and to provide body cams and other technology and equipment upgrades for state and local police departments.
