As part of his Strong Independent Leadership Tour, Governor Hogan today visited North Oaks Senior Living Community in Pikesville and met with residents to discuss the policy priorities he will fight for in Washington to continue delivering results for Maryland retirees.
“When I was running for governor in 2014, as I traveled around the state over and over again I heard people say ‘I don’t want to leave my kids and grandkids, but I can’t afford to retire in Maryland,’” Governor Hogan said. “As governor, I fought for 8 years and in my final year I finally got them to pass the Retirement Tax Elimination Act of 2023—a much deserved break for seniors for the first time in decades in Maryland. There is still more work to be done and in the Senate I will continue fighting for tax relief for all of our nation’s retirees.”
North Oaks is a senior living community located in Northern Baltimore County with a strong connection to the area’s Jewish population. During his visit, Governor Hogan spoke with residents about the rise in antisemitism across the globe, and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Israel.
In 2022, Governor Hogan signed into law the single largest tax cut package in state history—$1.86 billion in tax relief—including the Retirement Tax Elimination Act.
