Last night, Governor Hogan joined Bret Baier on Fox News’ Special Report to talk about his commitment to getting things done, providing independent leadership in the Senate.
On Importance of Strong Independent Leadership:
“I’m trying to convince Democratic voters…that I’m going to be an independent voice who will actually stand up. I’ll work with whoever the president is. I’m going to work with them when I agree with them, but I’ve proven that I’m willing to stand up when I disagree and I think that’s what a lot of them want to see–that kind of Senator…
“I’m going to stand up to kind of the extremes of either party, but I’m going to try to work with people across the aisle. I think people just want to see things get done on the major important issues that are facing us in Washington.”
On Final Campaign Push:
“The closing argument of the next two weeks is just to say I’m going to be the same kind of strong independent leader that’s not afraid to stand up, just like I was as governor for eight years—and that’s something that we desperately need in the United States Senate.
On Policy Differences with Angela Alsobrooks:
“My opponent is not cooperating with ICE. She’s the largest sanctuary jurisdiction that releases violent criminals onto the streets. Crime is out of control in the jurisdiction she’s in charge of and she wants to raise taxes at the federal, state, and local level and raise taxes on Social Security. So there’s real differences on the issues that can cut across party lines.”
