Hogan for Maryland Endorsed by American Conservation Coalition Action

Lauded for Commitment to Protecting the Environment

Hogan for Maryland today announced the endorsement of American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action), representing over 50,000 young people concerned about environmental issues. ACC Action endorses candidates who demonstrate a commitment to responsible environmental stewardship and conservation.

“Governor Hogan is committed to leaving a positive environmental legacy for future generations of Marylanders. We look forward to supporting him as he advances practical conservation solutions in the U.S. Senate,” said Danielle Butcher Franz, ACC Action CEO.

“My whole motivation to run for Senate in the first place was because I am worried about the direction of our country. Leaders are more focused on scoring political points than actually making progress on the issues facing our nation. We have to address the great threats of our time–including climate change,” Governor Hogan said. “Thank you to ACC Action for their endorsement, and for all they’re doing to mobilize the next generation of conservationists.”

The Hogan Administration was proud to make environmental conservation a priority, and Governor Hogan looks forward to building on these projects in the United States Senate.

  • Governor Hogan’s environmental stewardship saw Maryland be ranked the top state in the nation for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while simultaneously growing the economy.
  • The state’s 2030 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act Plan set a new, accelerated goal of 50% reductions by 2030, and a longer-term goal of net-zero GHG emissions by 2045–when I left, reports showed Maryland was on track for meeting its 2030 GHG targets and has more than achieved its statewide reduction goal for 2020, with statewide emissions falling 30% below the 2006 baseline.
  • As Governor, Hogan led on protecting the environment, especially on making the Chesapeake Bay the cleanest it has been in recorded history.
  • The Hogan Administration provided record funding—$344.5 million to support the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund. These funds helped preserve 11,000 acres of wetlands, and nearly 250,000 linear feet of stream restoration projects.
  • In order to hold upstream polluters accountable, Governor Hogan directed the Attorney General to sue the Trump EPA in order to ensure that polluters in New York and Pennsylvania are doing their part to keep our Bay clean—and won.
  • Governor Hogan led Maryland to be one of the top national states for reducing greenhouse gasses and fought to strengthen the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
  • Governor Hogan stood up to President Trump and added Maryland to the Paris Climate agreement after Trump pulled out, going even further by signing legislation that committed Maryland to cut emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
