ABC News:“I think people just see me as a regular guy that tells it like it is. And they know me after 10 years and they know that I’m willing to stand up to my own party or to the other party. …
“When things are so crazy and so divided that maybe what we need is a little bit of what we were able to do just down the road from Washington for eight years. And that’s trying to bring people together. … We’re winning independence overwhelmingly. And we’re just trying to convince those Democrats who already voted for me twice that I’m going to be able to represent them in Washington and look out for all of their interests.”
WBAL Radio: “We’re out working hard all across the state. We’re feeling good. I’ve always been an underdog. We’re outnumbered 2 to 1. But just like in 2014 and 2018, I think we’re going to finish strong. They always have counted us out. I think we’re going to pull this one off and it’ll be the biggest upset win in the country once again.”
98 Rock:“The system is broken, and we have hit the wall where people say ‘we’re going to try something else…most of the [politicians] on both sides are more interested in perpetuating their own career and making a name for themselves; I couldn’t care less about any of that stuff, I’m just going to see if we can fix things.”
CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper: “Part of my coalition has always been Democrats. I left office last year with 79 percent of Democrats in Maryland approving of me. We have seven different commercials on right now with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, all saying why they’re voting for me.”
WUSA9:“In 2014, the week before the election, they came out with polls saying we were 12 points down. We won by five and shocked the world. I think this is going to be similar.”
NBC News:“The closing message is politics today is completely broken. Washington is dysfunctional. You’re not going to fix it by sending more partisan politicians, we’re going to have to try something different. And just down the road from Washington, we proved that there is a better way to do it.”
Fox 45: “Marylanders seem to be really excited and enthused…the people of Maryland know me. They’ve known me for 10 years, and they aren’t believing any of the attacks from the other side.”
