Hogan for Maryland released the following statement from Governor Hogan ahead of President Biden and Vice President Harris’s event in Maryland today:
“President Biden and Vice President Harris’s visit to Maryland highlights the urgent need to address the burden of skyrocketing costs facing families and especially our seniors. It is the top issue for voters on the campaign trail. Yesterday, I visited an independent pharmacy in Baltimore to talk about these challenges, and ways we can work together to address them.
“As governor, I worked with the legislature to cut taxes for retirees and enact common-sense reforms to make healthcare more affordable for Marylanders, lowering premiums by 30%, capping the cost of insulin, and taking on the Pharmacy Benefit Managers who are driving up the cost of prescription drugs. In the Senate, I will work to further expand access to affordable health care and increase transparency in drug pricing.
“To truly deliver the relief seniors need, we should come together to take common-sense steps such as indexing Social Security to inflation and repealing the SALT tax cap, so we can end the unfairness in the tax code that hurts so many Marylanders already struggling amid crushing inflation. My opponent has the exact opposite approach: she has pledged to raise Social Security taxes and supports the SALT tax cap.
“Marylanders deserve leaders who put their health and well-being over partisan politics, and that’s what I’ll continue to do in the Senate.”
