Hogan For Maryland Statement on Today’s Announcement of More Tax Hikes on Marylanders

The Hogan for Maryland campaign released the following statement regarding today’s transportation announcement:

“Next week, hundreds of new taxes and fees will take effect and billions of dollars in additional tax hikes are on the horizon to pay for Maryland’s skyrocketing budget deficit.

“As members of the General Assembly are
already saying, today’s announcement will mean those tax hikes will be even bigger and far more crushing for Maryland families who are already struggling with high prices–especially the vulnerable Marylanders disproportionately hurt by taxes and fees.

“With the transportation budget facing bankruptcy, today’s announcement also puts at risk priority projects across the entire state. As governor, Larry Hogan made critical improvements to Maryland’s infrastructure and completed the top priority projects in every jurisdiction without raising taxes.

“Angela Alsobrooks is already talking about raising taxes on her constituents in Prince George’s County, campaigning on raising Social Security taxes at the federal level, and now clearly supports raising taxes statewide.

“Now more than ever, Marylanders need someone fighting for their pocketbooks. That’s what Governor Hogan did in Annapolis, and it’s how he will continue to lead for Maryland in the United States Senate.”
