Hogan for Maryland Receives Endorsement from National Federation of Independent Businesses, Announces Regional Small Business Coalition Co-Chairs

Hogan for Maryland today announced its endorsement from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and the regional co-chairs for Small Business for Hogan.

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, which represents America’s small and independent business owners. As a lifelong small business owner, I know the steep challenges facing Maryland entrepreneurs–that’s why I ran for Governor in the first place. My mission has always been unabashedly pro-jobs and pro-business and that is how we led the greatest economic turnaround in the country. Small business owners know I have their backs, and I’m so honored they have mine in this critical race for Maryland’s future,” Governor Hogan said.

“Governor Larry Hogan is a long-time friend of small businesses, and we believe he will make an exceptional U.S. Senator,” said Mike O’Halloran, NFIB Maryland State Director. “As governor, he made it a priority to make Maryland a more business-friendly state by avoiding tax increases on small businesses and reducing burdensome and outdated regulations. He left office with a record surplus for the state and the biggest economic turnaround in the country. Governor Hogan has a strong understanding of the issues important to our members and has committed to focusing on their top priorities such as making the Small Business Deduction permanent. We look forward to continuing to work with him.”

“We are confident that Governor Larry Hogan will continue to be a reliable small business advocate in Congress,” said Sharon Sussin, NFIB Senior National Political Director. “His prior experience as a small business owner and Maryland governor will be a significant benefit in the U.S. Senate. We are proud to endorse him today.”

In addition to having a broad network of support from coalition members all across the state, Hogan for Maryland is proud to announce these nine “Small Businesses for Hogan” Co-Chairs:

Ali Von Paris, Route 1 Apparel, Baltimore

Sean Coogan, SOCIAL, St. Mary’s County

Bill Meagher, Lakeside Creamery, Garrett County

George Tunis, Hardwire LLC, Worcester County

Drew Greenblatt, Marlin Steel, Baltimore City

Greg Brown, Monocacy Hospitality, Frederick

Dendry Aguilar, Centro de Habla Hispana, Prince George’s County

Will Low, Rathskeller, Howard County

Christine Guenther, WildFlower, Anne Arundel County

“I first had the privilege of meeting and working with Governor Hogan when my small business was awarded a recovery initiative under his administration. I look forward to being a co-chair of his small business coalition, so I can help support his election efforts for the U.S. Senate while also helping to grow and support small businesses like my own.” Sean Coogan, owner of SOCIAL, said.

“The reason why I support Governor Hogan is he’s so good for small business. He’s helped us grow and thrive during his eight years of governorship. We were so excited about the future with Governor Hogan leading us now in the Senate. He’s gonna create jobs. He’s gonna pull the middle class up. We’re gonna have less poverty with his policy prescriptions.” Drew Greenblatt, owner of Marlin Steel, said.

“The reason I support Governor Hogan is I think that politics can be very polarizing and that makes it really hard to get the work done that small business owners like me need. I love that Governor Hogan is willing to meet in the middle and work together across party lines to make great changes for small business.” Christine Guenther, owner of WildFlower, said.

“I am very thankful that Governor Hogan is running for Senate and we’re counting on him to fix the problems in Washington D.C., because the immigration problems that we have is not a Republican or a Democrat problem—it’s a human problem that needs to be fixed. PG County is my home and we’re very thankful that Prince George’s County is backing Hogan as a Senator. We’re very thankful for everything he did during the pandemic and we will never forget. That’s why PG County is counting on Hogan to win the Senate.” Dendry Aguilar, owner of Centro de Habla Hispana, said.

“Larry Hogan united Maryland with common sense, bipartisan leadership that benefited businesses, employees, and citizens. I am positive as a U.S. Senator for Maryland that this same approach will pay dividends for Maryland again, and will bring the word ‘United’ back into the United States of America.” George Tunis, owner of Hardwire LLC, said.

“I support Governor Hogan because he understands the struggles of the small business owner. As a first generation American whose parents emigrated here, Governor Hogan keeps our American dream alive by getting rid of needless oversight and burdensome taxes so that we can reinvest in our own communities and provide well paying jobs to our neighbors.” Will Low, owner of Rathskeller, said.

Yesterday, Hogan for Maryland held a press conference on affordability which featured testimony from Small Businesses for Hogan Co-Chair Dendry Aguilar, where Governor Hogan announced his five-point plan to make life more affordable for Marylanders. Watch the full press conference here.

Governor Hogan also recently announced his Small Business Relief Plan, which would:

  • Reduce the tax burden for small businesses
  • Make the Small Business Deduction permanent
  • Cut excessive and burdensome red tape
  • Protect small businesses from regulatory overreach
  • Make it easier for small businesses to support employees
