In recognition of National Good Samaritan Day, Governor Larry Hogan today stopped by the Ruth Kirk Recreation and Learning Center in Baltimore City to donate food on behalf of Hogan for Maryland.
“I am thankful for all the incredible services Squeaky and the Ruth M. Kirk Recreation and Learning Center provide for hundreds of families in the Baltimore community,” said Governor Hogan. “Squeaky reached out and let me know they have not had any food for two weeks. Our Hogan Rutherford administration alumni team all pitched in out of their pockets to help, and we are happy to play a small part in helping him continue to serve the surrounding community.”
Arthur “Squeaky” Kirk, CEO & Founder of the Ruth M. Kirk Recreation and Learning Center, is a longtime friend of Governor Hogan. The center is named in tribute to Squeaky’s late mother, Delegate Ruth M. Kirk, who served West Baltimore’s 44th District in the Maryland House of Delegates for 28 years.
Since 2011, The Ruth M. Kirk Recreation and Learning Center, formerly known as the Martin Luther King Center, has provided a variety of services including after-school youth tutoring, GED adult programs, youth mentorship, and weekly groceries for hundreds of families in the Baltimore region.
